Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get painted lowers?
Painting takes about 3 weeks or less from placement of order until shipping. Shipping is usually 3-5 days by UPS ground.
Painted lowers may shipped sooner than 3 weeks depending on the painter's shop load. New model year colors may not
be immediately available and may require time for the painter to do color matching or obtain new color codes.
Can I get Hogg Chopps already painted to match my bike?
Yes! We can match any factory Harley paint. Our painters use the same paint codes, type of paint and clear coat used by Harley to ensure that you have the best match possible.
For custom paint schemes, such as Harley's Radical Paint sets or House of Colors designs, our painter may require a side panel or saddlebag in order to match the colors and design. Cost will depend on the colors and difficulty of the project.
Do the lowers have to be painted?
The unfinished Hogg Chopps lowers are a black ABS material that has a smooth, satin finish on the outside. They can be used unfinished or painted. The parts are easily lightly sanded for painting.
Hogg Chopps can be ordered painted or unfinished for you to take to your local painter.
How do Hogg Chopps mount to the bike?
We provide complete hardware with the lowers. Hogg Chopps are engineered to mount with heavy duty, commercial grade P-Clamps and 5/16 diameter bolts. Two clamps on each side mount to the top and bottom of the stock engine guards. Locking nuts ensure that nothing comes loose after installation.
Will they make my bike run hot?
No! Hogg Chopps lowers have a less restrictive profile (more open area directly in front of the engine) than the factory lowers. Therefore, more cooling air moves across the engine. Remember, an air cooled engine is at worst condition when stopped (parades, traffic, etc.), not when running at normal speed.
Where are they made?
Designed and manufactured in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.
