NOTE: Follow instructions closely in order to safely and securely attach your new Hogg Chopps lowers.

Step 1: The right stuff.

Your set of Hogg Chopps lowers includes:

Set of Left and Right lowers.
4 – Vinyl covered P-Clamps
2 – 5/16 X 1.0” long, hex head bolts
2 – 5/16 X 1.5” long, hex head bolts
2 – spacers
4 – 5/16 locking nuts
4 – 5/16 Washers

Tools required:

3/16” Allen wrench
1/2” deep socket
ratchet wrench
Tape measure
Masking tape

Step 2: Make your mark

Using a piece of tape, make a mark 6 1/2” from the side of the UPPER engine guard bolt as shown. This will locate the position of the inside edge of each lower.

NOTE: This is extremely important to position the lowers for proper signal light clearance when turning the forks to the left and right stop positions.
Step 3: Position your clamps

Spread each of the P-clamps sufficiently to go over the engine guard. Spread the clamps far enough to prevent scratching the chrome with the exposed metal part of the clamp.

Note the orientation of the top and bottom clamps.

Push the clamps over the engine guard and squeeze back together, leave these loose at this time.

Step 4: Loosely install the Chopps

Position one lower over the engine guard as shown and align the upper P-clamp. Push the 5/16 X 1.0” bolt from the front through the upper hole (use washer on outside as shown) from the outside and through the P-clamp.

Take care when installing to prevent scratching your new lowers.

Start a locking nut onto the bolt and tighten sufficiently to hold in place.

NOTE: The clamps are heavy duty and can be difficult to hold together to start the nut. An assistant to hold the clamp together makes installation easier.

Position the lower P-clamp. Push the 5/16 X 1.5” bolt from the outside (use washer), through the lower hole, spacer, and through the P-clamp. Start a locking nut onto the bolt and tighten sufficiently to hold loosely in place.

Step 5: Final position and tighten

A) Move the top, inside of the edge of the Hogg Chopp to align with the tape marking the 6 1/2” distance from the frame. This will ensure proper turn signal light clearance.

B) Tighten the nut just enough to lightly snug up the lower to the engine guard. The locking nut will stay fastened without excessive tightening.

C) Tighten the lower bolt and nut using the same procedure.

D) Check proper tightness by pushing and pulling on the lower. You should not be able to slide the P-clamps on the engine guard.

Step 6: Check signal light clearance and cable movement to ensure safe operation

Turn the forks to the maximum left and right positions until they hit the fork stop.

Inspect the turn signal light clearance and cable movements to ensure free movement of the forks and cables.

Caution: Do not ride the bike if the lights and cables do not allow for full steering movement.
Step 7: Hit the road

It’s all about the ride so enjoy the classic style and added comfort of your new Hogg Chopps©!
